Pain and Stress Management
Pain management is one of the most complex and fustrating issues faced by doctors, practitioners and patients alike. All to often chronic and persistent pain are diagnosed to have no cure and to only to be managed with pharmacutical medication.

There are alternatives such as traditional and auricular acupuncture that can help with pain relief. Almost immediate results can be found even before the treatment is complete. In effect, your body can take a deep breathe and sigh a relief from the absence of chronic pain. By relaxing tight muscles and clearing obstructions in the body, oxygen and nutrients can flow into needed areas of the body.

The need to manage stress in our daily lives is becoming more and more urgent. It is epidemic in our work force and lifestyles that continually knaw at us every single day which starts to manifest in a variety of ways.

If you have any of these issues affect your daily life, do not wait another day! Why be in pain another day?

There is a way to manage and control stress!

Addictions
The need for addiction services is becoming more and more prevalent in today's society. Acupuncture is a safe, natural and effective adjunct therapy for addictions that can be used in conjunction with any existing cognitive-behavioral therapies without confliction of treatments and no side-effects seen with other types of Western medical therapies. It can be performed individually or in a group setting. Please contact me to find out more information.

General Acupuncture Information
Acupuncture is based on the therapeutic insertion of fine needles in various combinations and patterns based either on tradition principles such as encouraging the flow of gi, a subtle vivifying energy, or modern concepts such as recruiting neuroanatomical activities within the body, or a combination of these two principles. Acupuncture is in accordance with the philosophy of the Samji Clinic in that it tries to minimize the patient’s dependence on pharmaceuticals and other more invasive procedures. At the Samji Clinic, our doctors use acupuncture alone or in conjunction with other modalities and disciplines according to the needs of the patient.

Acupuncture can address musculoskeletal pain such as:

  • Soft tissue contusions
  • Muscle spasms
  • Joint sprains
  • Musculotendinous strains
  • Nerve injuries

Chronic pain problems are also commonly treated with medical acupuncture including:

  • Arthritis. Recent studies have demonstrated positive effects when medical acupuncture was
used for patients with knee arthritis.
  • Repetitive strain disorders (such as carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, plantar fascitis)
  • Tension headaches
  • Neck pain
  • Back pain
  • Shoulder pain
  • Knee pain
  • Hip pain
  • Jaw pain. Studies have shown that acupuncture can decrease the pain and improve the
  • range of motion associated with jaw pain.
  • Degenerative disc disease
  • Pain following surgical intervention

Some other less common situations in which medical acupuncture might be used include:

  • Bowel or bladder problems (such as irritable bowel syndrome)
  • Allergies
  • Skin problems (rashes, itchiness, ulcers, dermatitis)
  • Sinus problems
  • Dry mouth/dry eyes

In addition, acupuncture has been shown to have a preventative value, being able to address conditions before they become very symptomatic and encouraging the patient’s health and well-being.
